Since going live in May 2023, our IDEA Committee has played a central role in shaping a more inclusive, equal and accessible culture at Voy, for our team and for our patients.
The committee is guided by a clear purpose:
To champion inclusion, diversity, equality and accessibility across Voy, both internally and in the care we deliver.
This isn’t a side initiative or a once-a-year focus. It’s an ongoing commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels seen, respected and supported.
Why the Idea Committee Matters
At Voy, we support people on deeply personal health journeys. To do that well, we must reflect and respect the diverse experiences of the communities we serve.
Inclusion isn’t just about awareness days, it’s about:
- Embedding inclusive thinking into everyday decision-making
- Supporting managers with practical guidance
- Considering accessibility in our patient communications
- Creating space for learning and dialogue
- Celebrating difference in meaningful ways
Our IDEA Committee helps make that happen.
What We’ve Been Working On
Since launching in May 2023, the committee has led and supported a range of initiatives designed to spark conversation, improve understanding and drive action.
🌍 International Women’s Day
We mark International Women’s Day by reflecting on how we continue to support gender equity in our workplace and beyond. This usually consists of bringing in new voices and perspectives for a panel discussion, and supporting a female-owned vendor for our weekly team lunch.

🌙 Ramadan Awareness
We share guidance to help colleagues better understand Ramadan and how to support those observing it. This includes practical advice for managers and tips for navigating the period, for our weight loss patients.
🧠 Neurodiversity
We recognise that many of our team identify as neurodiverse so we’ve held several sessions to help educate on the different forms this can take, encouraging inclusive communication styles and greater understanding of different ways of thinking and working.
🏳️🌈 Pride
For Pride, we aim to create space for open conversation, learning and allyship. This has included members of the team presenting and sharing their own experiences.
✊ Black History Month
For Black History Month we also utilise our team lunch and use a Black-owned vendor. Last year we hosted a Black History quiz with proceeds to Black Minds Matter.
These moments aren’t performative. They’re part of a wider effort to connect awareness with action.
Supporting Patients
Importantly, our work doesn’t stop at internal awareness.
We’ve shared specific guidance to support our weight loss patients during Ramadan — recognising that cultural, religious and social contexts can shape people’s health experiences. This was also
By embedding inclusion into patient support materials and internal leadership guidance, we ensure that our values translate into real impact.
What’s Next?
Inclusion is never “complete.” It’s an ongoing journey that requires listening, learning and adapting.
The IDEA Committee continues to:
- Identify areas where we can improve accessibility
- Encourage employee-led ideas
- Partner with teams across Voy
- Create opportunities for meaningful engagement
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made since May 2023 and even more excited about what comes next.
Because building a truly inclusive organisation isn’t just good culture. It’s essential to delivering the best possible care.
